if your going to become a photographer, news stations or magazines wont care about what kind of degree you have. They will want to see what kind of pictures you can take. Also experience is big in this Field. Anyone can get a degree, not everyone can take a good picture. If you have to get a degree in something i would suggest photography, communications, or something like advertising.

It depends on how you use it. A sociology degree may help you to better understand people. In this respect you might be able to capture real life moments, the kind of pictures that shout a thousand words. Though another degree may be more easier to use, that would not be to say that a degree in sociology is useless.

No, a sociology degree is not a good degree if you want to be a photographer. I would suggest a business or marketing degree.

Not really unless you are going to be a freelance photgrapher that wants to spend his life capturing the human condition and you need to understand how humanity works. You would be much better suited by getting a degree in business to support running a studio, with electives in areas that support the area of photography you what to focus. For nature - study geology, biology, zoology, weather. For glamour, study clothes design, cosmetics, and art. You get the point. Most photographers fail from ability to run and market their business, not from their tecnical capability. To accel in the field, you need to understand all the elements within that field. I really see lmited use for Sociology for photography.

I think it would be irrelevant.
A sociology degree is not worth much at all. You can't even hardly get a job as a $12/hr social worker w/o a master's degree in social work.

Where will you get your photography training?
Get a degree in photography and learn how to take pictures. There is more to it than you think, obviously.
