There are many ways to do this. They are all pretty straightfoward. You have an external device that connects via USB that has the mono jacks to plug in a DVD or VHS player. There is capture software usually involved that will also help you do a little editing. You are not going to get a crystal clear picture no matter what because the input is analog, not digital.

My recommendation is to go to a CompUSA store and see what they recommend. I use Dazzle products sometimes and they work fairly decent. They come with a watered down version of Pinnacle Studio 9 which is good.

Hi. Depends on where the movies come from. If they are from DVDs then there is free software that will allow this. If it's from a VCR then you need a TV card. I use an ATI TV wonder and have had good luck but there are others.
