Could a cell phone call someone by some way, some maybe 'program' or answering machine or god knows, something that would call the same person about 7 times in the time period of 30 minutes, all being at relativelly random times?

Or are my friends just be playing pranks and blaiming it on their phone?

Sounds like a prank. If it is not a flip-phone, they could have accidentally hit "Talk" and made the call from theor pocket or purse. That has happened to me. Not seven calls in that short of a time, but one call that lasted over an hour. Something hit the button while it was in my bag, and I got nailed with a huge phone bill (roaming).

It is possible...lol....we were at a company picnic a few weeks ago and my husbands phone rang. He answered it (it was my son's number calling) and my son also answered his. They both rang each other without either one actually calling the other one. It was funny because it happened about 6 or 7 times within about 5 minutes. So I told my husband to dial my cell number and when he did, his phone kept calling my number. About every 20 or 30 minutes the phone would ring. His phone was in it's hard case, attached to his belt and his hands were on the table every time this happened. So yes, it's possible! As soon as we left the building we were in, the calls stopped. Can't imagine what caused it and it hasn't happened again.

You can accidentally call people with the newer phones if,
its an open phone(no clam shell, no slides, etc) and you can store numbers with key prompts. Basically you hit "2" for 2 seconds and it calls a number. So basically you can call plenty of people if the phone keeping on moving in your pocket. Pranks are also possible.

I don't think a cell phone would randomly call people. Is you cell phone a flip phone? If it isn't, your pants, or something might be bumping into the call button. If you continue to have problems, you should get it checked out at the place where you got it. They may replace it.
