Your dual-channel memory requires matched identical pairs of memory to run at peak performance. If you add 512MB without adding a pair of them, your dual-channel functions automatically shut off and your performance therefore decreases. Dual-channel will be automatically enabled if you installed identical pairs.

Hi. You do not mention what score you are using, but if the memory is the correct type (DDR2 let's say) then you may be able to run it in duel mode. This will speed up the transfer rate between the RAM and the CPU.

Mine is a Pavilion Dv2500 computing device. anyhow, I even have Vista domicile top rate and that i additionally extra a gig of RAM with my vista. i could say, in case you purely use your computing gadget for on a daily basis computing then upload a gig, yet once you game or use it for paintings i could propose including a gig and additionally downgrading to XP. Your Memory Bus slowed due to you putting in a slower memory. For example your machine may be running 667MHz memory if you put in 533MHz memory your memory bus always goes to the lower speed 533MHz instead of 667MHz. I had this situation with my DDR Memory I put a 266MHz in where I had 333MHz and it slowed down my machine.
