Ok, here's the geography lesson I issue on here on a disgustingly regular basis.
Great Britain constitutes England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Hence anyone who was born in any of those countries is British. Celts are an ethnic group found on the western fringes of Europe from northern Spain to northern Scotland therefore are not always going to come from somewhere English is the primary language.
I don't really know anything about the education system in the USA, except that a few states are trying to get Creationism into the school curriculum. Do you know anything about the system in UK?
Muslims are not the largest immigrant group in the UK, thanks. Since we've got an open immigration from all European Union countries, we've got a higher amount of Europeans, and there's a distinct lack of Muslim nations in the European Union.
And for the guy who said the UK has two official languages, guess again. Gaelic is officially a UK language as well, and let me reassure you it's spoken more widely across Scotland these days than it has been for years. My Dad used to get belted in school if he was caught speaking Gaelic because, like Welsh, the English overlords decided it was backwards and of no use in the modern world. Well, I'm glad to say the Welsh thought somewhat differently and carried on speaking Welsh, and bloody well done the Taffs. Scotland is finally beginning to reclaim it's Gaelic language properly, and not before time either.

The culture is indeed very diverse.
Unfortunately whilst the immigration increases I personally doubt whether these immigrants will bring any further diversity to our culture. Main reason? Immigration is actually creating adversity between cultures 'us and them', as the current immigration policy is completely flawed.
One culture that will infest our nation is racism and distrust, across the wide spectrum. Immigrants entering the UK are already predisposed with a perception of the UK.
Education in the US of A? Well I think a good solid grounding in geography would be of far greater benefit, at least the people of the US of A can understand that other countries do exist!

By race I am a Brythonic Celt [British - Welsh]. There is much race diversity here in UK, even among the native white [majority] population, which comprises mostly of people of Germanic descent. Anglo Saxons, Normans, Vikings etc.
In London we have about 250 languages and do not think of this as a problem. The United Nations probably has to deal with a similar or even larger number of languages.
You will be pleased to learn that the fastest growing language in the US right now, is one which is called Spanglish. This is a mix of Spanish and English including slang words from both languages. It is, according to what I have heard, popular among the youth culture of Americans.
Back in the 1960s the education authorities in Los Angeles [a Spanish city] decided it would be far easier to teach Mexican kids in their own native Spanish and then teach them English as they went, rather than make them learn English first. It worked.
The United Kingdom is a multi-cultural country with a broad cross section of people from all around the world. We even have a large section of South Americans here in London who have their own Sunday Foodball League.
The one thing which really does bring the people of UK together, is football. England is the home of soccer [football] and it is the one game which everyone can enjoy, watching and/or playing.
Otherwise, we are a disperate nation of Germanic and other tribes who seldom agree on anything and in order to make it all work, more or less, we have cobbled together a sort of democracy, which seems to work quite well. It allows people to have their say and get listened to.
"Democracy is the worst form of government, except all those tried before." Winston Spencer Churchill.
Edit: the UK has two official languages, English and Welsh.

Why ask the Brits? They have always spoken English.
Maybe that's why we call them the English?
They originally settled most of America and that is now the language here.
What do you want America to do, mess things up like they did in Canada?
Do you think the Japanese would like learning Spanish if they didn't have to?
I don't need to learn another language, I live here in America and I will die here.
If you move here, fine, I welcome you as a newcomer.
Now learn English and enjoy your new found freedoms.

The english banned people from speaking welsh - up until the 1950's - and would beat the living **** out of welsh kids who spoke it, in welsh schools. The anglisation of wales failed miserably. Now welsh speakers are not being allowed to speak it in work, and various companies are forcing welsh employees not to use it, when talking amongst themselves.

In the U.K, children are taught various languages. French and German are common, and now Spanish is being taught. One school is teaching pupils Chinese, another Russian. Due to the influx of Polish immigrants, I guess that will be the next choice of language to be taught.
