Live Earth is this weekend. Thousands of people traveling to concert venues, how much carbon based power (CPB) will be used for that? How much CPB will be used for these concerts. What about the waste they generate. None of this seems Green.
And the Artist. They live lives of conspicous consumption. Is this Green. They advocate the bling, but what about the effect extracting these jewels has on the environment, is this Green?
MTV will air the concert, but it also advocates conspicous consumption. I dont recall anyone on MTV Cribs talking about thier Green lifestyle.
The most recent global concert was at the G8 summit to bring awareness to the crisis in Africa. It raised no money for the cause, just raised awareness. Wouldnt $ have been more useful?
Maybe this will raise awareness, but do you think its hypocritical?
Also, i want comments on the concerts, not if thiere is a climate crisis or not...Thats off topic.

Yeah. When I saw the pyrotechnics in the previews, I laughed because I knew the concert wasn't really about "carbon neutrality", it was about ticket sales.
If the World ever really does get into a crisis over power and carbon production, electric music is gonna be the first thing to go.

Of course it's hypocritical. You can be sure that I won't be involved in such a wasted effort. I was going to ride my tricycle there, but I don't think I would make it from Denver in time for the concert. Well, maybe I'll just drive.
Seriously though, grow up. Awareness is a key factor. Sure people may be driving their Hummers to get there, but if they weren't driving to a concert they'd just be driving somewhere else. What do you suppose, we now only serve televised concerts and ban live performances unless you can prove you traveled through no use of fossil fuels? Don't be ridiculous.
The effort is to raise awareness and awareness is the most powerful force, at least in a democratic country, and definitely in this case. People have the opportunity to change their individual habits and vote for a more secure and certain tomorrow. All they need is the knowledge that would compel them to do so.
And no, money is not more important than awareness. In a democratic society, if more people are for a cause, than the cause has more backing. Having more money is only a catalyst for more awareness, but money can only go so far. Give a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day; Teach a man to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime.

Yes...but the after affects, if they promote it correctly, could mean less energy being used in the long run.
But, if they spent the money that they are putting into this concert on finding an alternate energy source, I am sure that the after-affects would be far far greater in the long run.

it is demanding that this sort of lot of look committed -- willingly or in any different case -- to religions that prophecy the inescapable doom of the international. Is it possible that this lays the floor for a self-gratifying prophecy, because of the fact it seen that humanity has no skill to stay away from this end. There are different religions that don't relegate humanity to this sort of dim end. it is taught that as long as there is even one place or man or woman that upholds honor and integrity then corruption won't be able to overtake the international. all of us, as a result, share a duty. regrettably, those religions are no longer Christian and as a result interior the minority. To make the priority even worse, it is taught that people who're no longer with Jesus are against his teachings and via extension are decrease than the impact of devil. This creates a condition of worry in people who persist with the Christ. What human beings worry they quickly study to hate. Hate begets hostility, conflict, and destruction. nicely, i assume that settles it then. on the time whilst the Christian hundreds attain their serious element of worry and mistrust, the international would be compelled the adventure their wrath which, sarcastically, would be carried out interior the call of affection of "God." yet then, even Jesus admitted that he did no longer come to convey peace, quite to convey conflict and separation.
