Don't stretch too far looking for something profound. You can make even every-day occurances seem profound if you do it right. I'd say start off happy, with something positive, make it more positive, then drop it down into the gutter for a sad section of the song, keep that going until the very end, then finish on a positive turn-around. A mundane example would be... you find a stray, take it in, it becomes a member of the family, even helps save someone's life, then gets sick and runs off, is found dead, but the reason it was sick was because it was pregnant, so the pups are taken in and it all starts again. I know that's a terrible example, but you get the idea.

When you're singing a song, you need to RELATE to the music and really FEEL it. Write about experiences that have happened to people in your band. Since you should all relate to the music, write a song about something that often happens to most people such as: wanting to stay somewhere forever, but having to leave, a break-up, making up with a best friend after a fight, a dream, sneaking out, death, fun things you've done with your friends, going to the beach. and you could write a song about something you hope will happen, like an end to AIDS, world peace, stopping global warming, etc.

Well, I write songs a lot so I can help. I'd like to start off by saying that I like your values (nothing nasty, no screaming -screaming is stupid in songs anyway-, no swearing.) It's VERY rare these days (this is coming from a kid, btw!) I also like your name. It's kinda. . . funky? Idk.

When I write a song, I write it based on stuff happening in life (for me it's usually sad songs because I usually don't write songs when I'm happy.) But since you're writing a love ballad, you should just write something about a boyfriend or something.

So, I hope this helps and one day when you girls release a CD- be sure to include "Kitty" on yahoo.com in your thank-you's. I'm just joking- you don't have to do anything here but give me points! Have fun!

I have a band too, and we've already got some songs in. The songs were about how we felt, and the things we hated. Try to put feeling and emotion in your song so it's more like you wrote it off of you, and not something fake. Hope that helped.

I've written 15 completed songs on my own, and just formed a band with some friends who have alot of songs they've written as well.

My advice? Write about things that have happened in your life, things you can relate to, things you are feeling. Personally, as sucky as it sounds, some of my best material comes out when something bad or sad happens to me (like some people write in journals to get emotions out, I write music and songs).

So just write about things that have happened that you can relate to. Nothing you write will honestly be good if someone else dictates it to you.....blaze your own path.

Good luck

How about a song called "Lessons in Hope, Peace, and Love that will blow your F***in' mind". It shall be a power ballad. 2 minutes of lyrics, 6 minutes of guitar solos.

1. Learn how to spell
2. Change your bands name
3. Listen to songs by bands that sound like what you want your band to sound like. Avril Lavigne, Barlow Girls, Flyleaf? Listening to them should give you ideas.
