What causes all of the venom and name calling in the politics section?

Insults never persuade anyone to change his or her mind. Are some of us in a contest to see which side can express the most rage?

It is funny that the first two people who answered each attacked and blamed the other side.

I do think a lot of the venom comes from people whose "job" is to intentionally make people annoyed. If you look most of those who ask the really inflammatory questions never allow you to email them and are almost always on the first level which means they keep coming back under new Id's.

The anonymity of YA also breeds a certain callousness. I suspect that if people had to use their real names they would be kinder and if YA suspended people based on IP address it would cut down on the way people respond.

I am with you on this one. I would love to see some open dialog without all the hate and name calling.

But as you can see from the first person to answer this question, it is just another place to launch an attack.

Does anyone else remember the line "Untied we stand, divided we fall"?

I have forged some great friendships with people who do not believe the same as me but we are untied on some fronts and because of our ability to communicate, I have been able to see things through another's eyes.

I would hope that others may join in and stop all of the hatred and try to join forces in a united front.

The same thing that causes all the ruckus on all those conservative-biased media programs: hatred, distortions, lies, bias, and bigotry.
Hitler's propagandists were able to persuade otherwise intelligent people that it was acceptable to gas 6 million Jews.
The propagandists for the Republican party (Limbaugh, Coulture, Hannity, etc.) spread the same kind of venom, hatred, and bigotry against Democrats. It's only a matter of time until a preponderance of our population believes it's acceptable to do bodily harm to, or kill, anyone with whose political perspectives they disagree.
War begets war. Hatred begets hatred. Bigotry begets bigotry. The name-calling goes on. Stupidity escalates. Adolph Hitler once said: "How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think".
How fortunate for governments; how unfortunate for our nation and its people.

In large part the fact that it is anonymous. People feel safe spewing venom here. Most would not dare say to anyone's face what they post here.

helpful, the only element I do is shorten the names democrat to dems and republicans to reps and liberal to libs i do no longer for conservatives considering con has a double which skill. So what's incorrect with that? on occasion you could desire to to get a question in. Edit: properly, i'm no longer likely to capitalize them, lol.

The ignorance of not knowing that both parties work together, they play american against american as they rape our country and destroy it. That why dems won't impeach, won't stop the war etc. They also profit from it's chaos. American's need to unite against the failed 2 party system.

People also do things like name calling when they think your laughing at them for believeing whatever. they also do it sometimes if they are afraid . I think its the unknown or what they think is a threat to them. like I said afraid

Because George reminds me of Bevis of Bevis and Butthead, the Repugs know this also and are trying their best to live up to it!
