It's probably either your power supply fan or your cpu fan, most probably the power supply one. In either case, might be time for a new one.

There are a number of moving parts in a computer which can generate sound. People have already mentioned the most common sources of noise: fans, DVD/CD drives and hard drives. All have moving parts which spin. The most common cause is the fan(s). It doesn't make what computer you use, dust and grime eventually builds up on the fans (i.e. computer fan, power supply fan and the CPU fan) causing a whining noise. You don't hear it all the time because the fan comes off and on. When the temperature rises to a preset limit, the fan is automatically turned on. Your best bet is to get a can of compress air. Next, open the computer case and hold the can of compress air about 6 - 12 inches away from the fan. Give it a couple of blasts. Do not try to clean the CPU fan. And, do not hold the can directly against any of the fans when spraying. You will do more harm than good.

The fan may be dirty with dust and then some. You can either clean it out with some air, compressed or not. Or you can take it to a small computer shop and have them blow the dust out of the whole computer for almost if not free.

The buzzing is the cooling fan on the processor. This comes on as a results of fact the processor is getting warm. Getting too warm makes the processor quit working (freeze). So - you possibly have a situation with the cooling vents being crammed with airborne dirt and dust, fluff, crud. Or it would desire to be that an app on your pc is going wild and using up the CPU cycles, inflicting lots of warmth and a crash.

Two things immediately come to mind.
1. You have a disc in your DVD/CD drive and your computer is reading it from time to time
2. Possibly one of the cooling fans in your computer could be the source.
