Ok, i started a 10 gallon aquarium and added a few live plants and fish. Well a few days later i started spotting small snails (2-3) crawling around. I knew they must have been in with the plants, and didn't mind. WELL. Now i have about 65 snails! And to make matters worse, i can see the egg sacs they leave all in the leaves of my live plants....i don't want to kill them, but they have taken over my aquarium! What should i do?

You have two choices. Kill them or allow them to take over. You won't find anyone willing to take those little guys from you.

There are several treatments available on the market, but I wouldn't suggest you use any of them. Most are rather tough on your fish and especially tough on your plants.

I would suggest you use a more natural approach. Use a small plastic container with a snap top lid. Poke several holes all around the container that are big enough for the snails but too small for the fish in your tank. Add a piece of lettuce and a handful of gravel from your tank. Place this in the tank over night. In the morning you can remove the container and you will be amazed how many snails you will remove. Do this several times in a row and you will really cut down the numbers in the tank. Then just do it once a week or so to keep them under control.

Use a small plastic container with lid. Put a piece of lettuce inside the container. Then punch some small holes (smaller than your fish) on the container. Snails like lettuce and will craw into the container. Check every second day and remove them... keep doing this will help you to catch most of the snails. Although this won't get them all, it can ensure your tank has small number of snails.

You can also go ask aquarium stores about fidh that eats snails... But, be cautious about some fish as they eat snails only when there're snails around. Once they eat them all, they will eat small fish if you have small fish in your tank.

To get rid of the snails you can drop a piece of cucumber or lettuce into the tank and leave it until morning. Snails will congregate on it and in the morning take the lettuce out and discard it. Don't over feed your fish as this encourages the snails to breed.

You can also get fish that eat the snails or the snail eggs. Bettas like the snail eggs. I am not sure what all like the snails themselves. Pufferfish are one but they are difficult to care for.

You HAVE to remove the snails from your tank, preferrably(( thats if you dont want to kill them..)) Place them in another. Also, use fake plants, and clean out the egg sacks the snails have laid. Hopefully, the inavasion will continue elsewhere from then on.

particular they're snail eggs! i've got had the are available in one new flora that I actual have offered. i'm undecided how comfortable your fish are yet i might basically attempt to eliminate as many of the eggs as possible. The eggs are coated in goop so it could take you somewhat longer them predicted.

Above are good suggestions. Remember snails are hermaphrodites. They don't need another snail to make more.

you should clean it all out and use fake plants. or maybe salt water if the fish can handle that, but it may kill the snails cuz salt kills them, but i see no other way.
