I love this question. In all actuality everyone has the potential to be "psychic". Unfortunately for those who are persueing the life style of a "psychic" there has been a lot of bad press and mis-conceptions. A much better word for the gift would be Sensitive.
Different people are sesitive in different ways so when someone says "you're a psychic what am I thinking" I have to laugh. Some Sensitives do not see the future. Let me list a few different types.
There are those Sensitives that are attuned to spirits who are among us or who have passed. (dead people) They can often see ghosts and whether or not a person is surrounded by specific spirits. A good example of what this would look like would be Johnathan Edwards.
There are those Sensitives that are attuned to the body and can tell if a person is sick and what might be wrong with them. I'm not sure I know any one popular for this or any of the others.
People have gifts for talking to animals, finding lost objects, contacting spirits, reading people, and healing, plus many others.
Some people are Clairaudiant (they hear things), Clairvoyant (they see things), Clairsentiant (they just know things), and others who just sense things.
Being "psychic" is all about intuition. As you develop your intuition and your "6th sense" you become more in tuned with the world around you and the energy that you read.
Some people use tools like Tarot cards and such, while for some their body is their only tool.
I can't answer for everyone or even for all the different kinds because I am strong in only a few gifts. For me most of what I can feel and do is based on my "gut feeling" or knowing. I am an intuitive. I will just be talking to someone and all of a sudden I "know" stuff. I started realizing all this when I started thinking about things and finding out later that I was right. I do other things as well, but as long as I stay in a place where I am not practicing out of ego then I am right. It's scary.
I'm also a healer and I tell people all the time that the stories I tell them, I myself would not believe, if it weren't for the fact that I wasn't there.
If you are open and want to experience something then go to a spiritualist church in your area when they do a gallery reading. It's often like John Edwards type stuff.
If you have questions talk to someone. Being psychic is a big category with too much to answer in one little session.

I am still new the the whole "psychic" thing. I still wouldn't classify my self as a psychic. I have just started to experience new things. I was able to sense things about people, their sadness, scared, happiness, and so on...then just recently since i have been researching a few things, i have become more open to the possibilities of what I was conditioned into thinking was odd or weird being actually true.
In other words my family was very religious, what they said was the truth and anything outside of the box was fictitious. When i started to explore and believe in other things it was then i started knowing things...not just feeling. Have you ever gotten a call and known who was on the phone before you picked up ? Ever know that something is wrong with one of your friends? It was like that at first but then it changed and became more like someone was putting information into my head about these people i had never met. I felt the need to tell them the information to see if i was loosing my mind or if it was real...turns out it was real.
Like I said I'm still new to the whole psychic thing but if you have come this far it must interest you a bit, research it and believe and see what happens! What have you got to lose?
Peace and love

I accept as true with you one hundred%!! They do not get anyplace close near. They wager situated on folks talents and revel in. You get a couple of hits and tons of misses!! I am open to standard psychic stories, however no longer from people who declare it 24/7. Also how come they under no circumstances simply say 'I do not know'? That suggests that they believe they realize it at all times with every person who walks by way of the door. If they knew a few so much approximately the whole thing at all times they might do extra well then they honestly do. Million buck presents had been made countless occasions to folks who declare and will end up to be psychics, nobody ever has. I hate after they say why must we end up it? Because in the event you say you'll be able to do it then end up it! You are handling folks's lives and feelings. GRRRRRRRRRR.. And I hate excuses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for me the best way to discribe it is that it really does feel like a sixth sense. just a passive thing that i was born with, and one day i realized that a lot of other people didnt, or at least didnt use. i do believe everyone has it, not everyone uses it though. my ex for example, doesnt believe in psychics, always asked me "why the hell do you read horroscopes?", just didnt hold with any of the paranormal/occult/whatever you wanna call it stuff that i did. but every once and a while he would have dreams that came true, down to the letter. so i really do think that everyone has it, just not everyone uses it, whether they are scared, dont understand it, dont realize it....whatever the reason may be.
back on the original topic though, it really does feel just like another sense. some days its stronger for me, some days its weaker (like today. i have a cold so pretty much all my senses are a little foggy feeling).
as far as what i can do in terms of psychic stuff, i am exceptionally good at telling what people are feeling. they dont even have to say a word to me, the second they walk within...id say about 12 feet of me i can tell exactly how they are feeling. i dont even have to look at them, i can just pick up on certain energies. i can tell you when someone who is sad walked into the room, i can tell you when someone happy just walked into the room. it just happens.
i also seem to be good at predicting relationships. once or twice ive predicted down to the minute when a couple would break up. im also good at knowing when major events in peoples relationships are going to happen. like, if a couple is going to get engaged, i can usually predict when that girl will get a ring.
there really isnt much rhyme or reason to it. a lot of people wonder why psychics dont know the lottery numbers or stuff like that. psychics cant usually just pull stuff out of the air like that. we have to spend a little time in a situation, get to know it, or the person we are reading. so many people post questions on here asking for psychic help....they ramble on and on about their problem, but dont ever give us a name....well....there could be lots of people out there with the same problem, a name does help to make sure we get the right reading off the right person...
all of this just sort of happens to me. it really does. i think normal thoughts and have normal conversations and all that but somewhere in my brain the psychic part of me is always going, analizying moods, thinking about what the next day will bring. kind of feels like my brain is split in two some days. im not scared of it or anything, but i am afraid of the people who judge saying its not real, when all they know is the hollywood sterotype of psychics.

I feel as if I am in another 'zone' when my gift is the clearest. I dont zonk out or get spooky, but everyone around me disappears except for the person I am talking to, and its almost like I can see through their eyes. Its like I know their closest friends and family as if they are my own (even though this person may be a complete stranger). Its a very interesting feeling, one that I KNOW is not the average feeling.

What would this world be like if there really psychic ability?
It has been argued that if psychic power existed, to use it would be "a gross and unethical violation of privacy" and "professions that involve deception would be worthless" There wouldn't be any need for undercover work or spies. Every child molester would be identified immediately. No double agent could ever get away with it. Psychics would be in demand for high paying jobs in banks, businesses and government. Most psychics would be very, very rich.... and since psychics are such altruistic persons, giving up their time to help others talk to the deceased or figure out what to do with their lives, they would be winning lotteries right and left and giving part of their winnings to help the needy. We wouldn't need trials of accused persons: psychics could tell us who is guilty and who is not. The polygraph would be a thing of the past. Of course, the operative word here is if. If psychic power existed the world would be very different.
No one has ever shown, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event.
Ever.
Really.
If they could it would be one of the greatest event's in human history.

We are all born Psychic some choose to use it and enhance their senses some choose to shut it down
And old saying
"Use it or loose it"
The Senses are:
Sight: Eyes "Clairvoyance" Spiritual Body "Eye" (called the Third Eye)
Sound: Ears "Clairaudience" Spiritual Body "Ear"
Touch: Skin "Clairsentience" Spiritual Body "Skin"
Taste: Tongue/Nose "Clairlinguance" Spiritual Body "Tongue"
Smell: Nose "Clairolerance" Spiritual Body "Nose"
*Know: Brain "Claircognizance" Spiritual Body "Mind"
Clairaudience - Intuitive
This is a person who will pick up a thought and hear it. This persons mental or intellectual understanding is very important and they can make good leaders. We all know someone that we would say was a mental person, always having to understand mentally. They carefully think things through. If this person were to become enlightened they would have the ability to become a medium, someone who channels information from entities who have passed over, because their most heightened sensitivity is to hear.
Clairvoyance- Visionary
This is a person who will pick up a thought and see it. This person has the ability to transform a thought into a vision, symbol or in colour by using their mind's eye. If an artist, a decorator, a creative person, someone who mainly uses the right side of their brain were to become enlightened they would have the ability to read auras, our chakras, draw guides and this is how they would channel what they received because the ability to see images is their most heightened sensitivity.
Clairsentience - Prophetic (1)
This is a person who will pick up a thought and just knows it. This person is sensitive to precognition and has hunches, dreams and knowings and this person usually deals with the future or present and how it will affect another. If you were to meet an enlightened Prophetic you would be able to get some information about your 'line of probability', tomorrow is not set in time remember. This could be a person who has a dream about something and that dream turns out to happen in reality. They have the ability of prediction because they 'just know' and can tune into and understand their hunches.
Clairsentience - Feeler (2)
This is a person who will pick up a thought and transform it immediately into a feeling. This persons life can revolve around how it feels to them. Their sense of touch is well-developed and they have the ability to know people by feeling what they feel. After enlightenment, this is someone would have the ability to practice psychometry. The ability to put something belonging to someone in their hand and read the energy. Depending on their other gifts, they could tell the past, present or future from the energy. They have the ability to feel how others feel but only on the emotional level. They will be able to not only empathise but experience their pain, loss, grief etc. For instance, if they were to channel energy from a persons past life they would experience the pain and hurt that that soul experienced in that past lifetime.
Clairgustance - Taste
Clairgustance is being aware of tastes without putting anything physically in the mouth. To perceive the essence of a substance through taste from the spiritual or ethereal realms. The sensation of what one is tasting is often linked to a spirit on the other side.
Claircognizance
The sense of knowing through our brain, even though it is not a physical sense, simply because it has a corresponding metaphysical sense known as claircognizance, or knowing without knowing how you know.
Clairolerance - The Smell
The sense of Smelling different fragrances from Spirits to find that earthly connection, strong odours you can't escape and can't explain a reason for eg: Cooking odours, Perfumes, Perfumes, Cigars or Cigarettes, Flowers, Extra. The characteristic essence linked to a spirit on the other side.
Psychometry
Psychometry is another form of psychic divination using the sense of touch to get mental impression linked to it. Psychometric impressions may come in the form of emotions, sounds, scents, tastes or images. The visions can appear is single flat images, much like a photo, or as animations. As we exist in an electromagnetic energy reality, metal objects often work best.
