Sports trivia question - I doubt that it has ever been done but have never been able to find out the answer.

It's been done.
Sam Jones of the Yankees no-hit the A's on Sept. 4, 1923 with 0 strikeouts. Ken Holtzman of the Cubs did the same to the the Braves on August 19, 1969.

It's been done twice. Sam Jones was the first to do it on September 4, 1923. It wouldn't be done for another 46 years, when Ken Holtzman did it on August 19, 1969.

I went through the old Retrosheet records (which list box scores for no-hitters back to 1956), and I came up with one. It was thrown by Ken Holtzman on August 19, 1969.
