97 Nissan Maxima. Engine was tyrying to turn but wouldn't. Got a new battery put it in. It wasn't that.

When you turn the key to start it, what happens?

Could you be a little bit more specific??

If you could give a more detailed explanation of what is happening when you turn the key to start your car.
1) Nothing happens?
2) You hear a "click", but nothing else?
3) You hear the starter turning, but the engine doesn't turn?
4) The starter turns the engine, but the engine won't start up?
5) The engine turns over, but very slowly.
6) the engine turns, but there's an awful banging noise?

Lastly:
What happened last time you drove it?

1) Drove home fine last night, just won't start today?
2) Was driving fine, and it just died on you?
3) You haven't driven it in a while. It's been parked in storage?

I worked for Nissan for over 8 years and the VQ sequence engine this is obtainable in all Maximas considering ninety 4 is rated as between the final engine designs for a V6 of all time. look at Wards Engine comments and you will see that the engine has been on the coolest ten checklist for over 13 years. this is the same engine because of the fact the recent 350's and G-35(with the displacement turning out to be by skill of a .5liter). i could recommend putting some upload ons like a clean in-take and loose bypass exhaust to furnish your motor vehicle greater ability and greater constructive gas performance. %. up a duplicate of most of the tuner mags and that all of them have components furnish places in the classified ads. yet another stable place to look is Stillen. Could be a starter...check and see if the engine is getting spark also. If those don't do it, check for fuel flow...could be the pump.

Sounds like your starter is drawing too many amps. Probably or most likely need a new starter.
