Have you tried heat? Soaking in a hot tub of water, or a heating pad on the tummy may help. One thing I discovered that always took away the pain when all else failed, is the hands and knees position. Get on all fours and lower your shoulders. I know it sounds weird, but it worked for me. It seems to take some of the pressure off the pelvis.
Try to stay away from junk foods, especially stuff with lots of salt the week before your period.

yeah it should. try eating a banana or two because that really helps me. something to do with the nutrients in them being good for periods. a heating pad helps me, i doubt a hot water bottle would because it just cools off etc and it doesnt cover your whole stomach. you should go on birth control though that will take it right away. try to buy a heating pad, not a hot water bottle. lay under a warm blanket with it and cover your whole stomach and put a pillow under the arch of your back [important!] or between your knees if you're on your side. but your back is best. try to make sure you're completely level lying flat and straight. sometimes it helps to bend your knees though. eat a banana and take a womens multi vitamin. and yes, get a little tipsy. try to use whine or something like that and not straight up vodka. it can really really help to eat well before your period.

Midol or Ibuprofen. Stay away from caffeine. Eat food that has a lot of potassium. And yes, the dreaded exercise will help too.

continue with the otc meds as prescribed. sometimes it takes more than one dose to get ahead of the pain. then try comfort measures like a thermacare pad, heating pad or hot bath. you can also try to relax with music or drawing too. good luck;)michele
