They don't bother me at all. I don't use them alot with the exception of the lol and the lmao

Yes, I do find them annoying, since there are times when we may mean one thing, but the other person 'reads' the thing totally differently due to 'local variation' ... I really do think that 'spelling things out' properly is better, but I do use 'shortcuts' when I'm playing WoW sometimes, because it's difficult to be 'writing' to someone and 'moving through the game' at the same time without getting hurt or 'killed' or falling down a long cliff you should have 'turned the corner' to avoid. There may be some 'message' in that, but I don't think I like it much ... life is too fast, and we need to 'slow down and look at the trees' more often.

Most, I find annoying. LOL is the only one I use. I use it because I would get really tired of typing that out every time. I can't get use to abbreviating everything. I don't find it cute, just useful.

Those are annoying, but everyday abbreviations I use everyday when I take notes for work and for class. They save me so much time when trying to get all the information down.

Depends on the abbreviation. I use LOL or LMAO all the time but if I see somebody spell "kewl" when it takes just as many letters to spell "cool" properly, THAT gets on my nerves!

If I don't know what they stand for, then yes. I was confused when someone typed something and I thought it meant something else. I can't remember exactly what the abbreviation was, be we were talking about two totally different things.

I don't find them annoying or amusing. Abbreviations are used in the workforce all the time.
They use them for business applications etc.

Yes! I'm in the Navy and half the time I don't know what people are talking about becuase they talk in abbreviations all the time!
