I think if technology ever got to that stage, the yes it could be possible for someone like that to have a soul. in ghost in the shell you could hardly tell who was and wasnt completely human unless they actually told you or you got a glimpse of the back of their heads, although most of them had cyber brains and such. i think a soul is made from experience living so it would be possible for robots/cyborgs or whatever to one day aqquire a soul. Love that series :) its so deep.

Well, to answer this properly, you need to figure out how you would define a soul. you also need to define how you would get one. Are you born with it? Is it something that is aquired as you get older? Did humans always have it or was it slowly developed over the course of our evolution. Do all living things have a soul, including plants and trees? Do only living things have souls? What qualifies something as being a living thing? These are all questions you would need to think about as you got deeper into your discussion about this. Personally, I don't think that robots will ever acquire souls. I believe that they might have the ability to learn and develop and become shadows of their human counterparts, but they will never be living enough for a soul.

Robot may become so advanced that they develop souls. If this happens then something bad my come of this or things could come out just fine, but I doubt everyone will trust the robots.

You're asking if AI could become real and would it mean that they would be the equal of Humans. But that means defining humanity. Scientists and philosophers are still hashing it out.
