I would turn it over to the police even if it did not have money in it. We never know what situation others are in and should not keep what doesn't belong to us. I've had my wallet stolen once.

Think about it for a few seconds, have the dreams of nobody would know - then do the right thing-- Either return it to the owner if there is ID in it or turn into the Police Department. Who knows? Maybe murder? Maybe Drugs? Maybe a set up? Do the right thing......and then regret it later!! Who knows, maybe you would get an honest reward from the owner...... Great Question and did have a Good 4th of July. Went and saw License to Wed!!! Very funny.........

Bank it
Its a dog eat dog world out there
If you can afford to casually wander around with cash like that and are hapless enough to lose the wallet then the chances are you can afford to loose the money anyway.
Of course an old woman purse with £60 in it is a different matter.

that's nice to see people are still honest i like most of the people would if there was an id or anything saying who the person was i would probably try and contact the person myself over giving it to the cops first, if not id go to the police and it least turn in the wallet, it's a hassle getting all knew info again, what money????lmao

This is a matter of honesty. If the persons I.D. was in the wallet then i would give it back.
If not i would keep it.If i handed it in to a police station how would i know someone else wouldn't pocket it.Finders keepers.

I would assume that the person who originally owned the wallet would want to be taught a lesson.

Try to find out who owned it. If there wasn't any ID in there at all (so then even the police wouldn't be able to find out who owned it) then give the money to charity.

Hand it in to the police. They tried this in several different countries and the results were very interesting....(Reader's Digest)
