Help me out here. You list your cousin was shot in 1993 and his date of death in 2003. Ten years later. Is this an error or was he in a coma for ten years and died from complications?

I Googled his name and came up empty.

Oh I forgot.. Try your library and see if they have micro fiche news paper stories from the Chicago Tribune. or call the Chicago news papers and have then look in their archives of stories. It will cost a fee for a copy but might be worth it.

I doubt it could be done online since it's still an open case (though probably a "cold" case given the time frame). Being a family member you may be able to get copies of the case file, though I'm not entirely sure about that. If it was a closed case I'm almost certain you could but, again, since it's an open file I'm not sure they'd give you anything.

You could try contacting the Chicago PD that handled the case and see what they say. At worst you might get into contact with the officer/s that worked the case originally and they'll be able to speak with you about some of the details.

Good luck!

Try the "white pages" of the Chicago newspapers. Sometimes they have them open for the public to use. If not, you'll have to go there personally and find out.
Also try "Illinois obituaries.com" I've used this for certain States for cemetery use. If you have the dates it may work. Good luck
