The "In Death" Series by J.D. Robb-are the in order because of certain events or are they more of individual stories?

I highly recommend reading them in order. They're all in paperback except for the newest one. These are really awesome books. I hope you enjoy them!!!

I haven't read them in sequence and it really doesn't matter too much as they are individual stories. The threads of her and Rourke's romance, and those of her friends and staff are a continued line from book to book, but not done so you can't follow what is going on.

they do go in order, but each are standalone cases for the most part. you can read them in any old order, because some events may be alluded to that happened earlier, but she's pretty good at giving a "flashback." good for random readers, irritating for someone who already knows what happened :)
