I believe that we are only in this war because bush promised in the beginning that if the oil companies help him win president, he will keep oil prices high and they will make big profits. so he started a war and he is paying them back. it sounds logical since so many runners for election spend thousands and thousands and more to win the election. they have to owe someone something eh? and what was bush before president? wasnt he in the oil business?

That sounds like a Tom Clancy novel.

In reality who really knows? It may be possible but I would point more to the Neo-con bend prior to the war. Neo-cons believe that the use of military dominance and foreign policy is the best way for the US to positively impact the world. They believe that if we could repeat Japan and South Korea over and over again the world would be better off. I would guess that might be a better explanation for the war in Iraq. Imagine a legitimate trading partner in the middle east with lots of oil?

This is not a conspiracy theory. This is fact. Just take a look at the New American Century Project charter and see who signed it in 1997. Many of Bush's appointees appear on the signature list.

PS. I voted for Bush and would do so again

This theroy has is basis in fact. Bush did have major investments in the oil industry, as well as others such as defense. For any politician to become elected the simple truth is that promises have to be made, and then be made good on. During the first 4 years bush made attempts to focus on domestic issues, and won supporters, however once relected ( cough ), it was time to pay up. There are 3 industries which run this country and decide who is elected, and stays elected. Oil, defense, and transportation. These industries are inticatly tied to one another, and a disruption in the profits of any one affects the other. Bush owes big business favors for him remaining in office. Inaction during the hurricanes, potential disruptions from the middle east, and attempts at distractions with north korea only furthered the spiraling effect of oil prices. Defense contracts are up, transportation prices are high, and we all know what a gallon of gas costs. Lets not forget that every single oil company posted their largest profits in history during the past three years, and there is no end in sight. How many of you have recieved pay raises in excess of 500%? Executive bonuses are at all t ime highs, middle class workers are struggling to get to work. Do not presume that the Bush administration has any plans to change this is any way. As he becomes more and more of a lame duck, and during his 11th hour, im sure we will see corrupt business leaders being pardoned, as was libby. You cant do a favor for someone and lock them up for it after all.

The war is actually helping the military corporate profiteers make alot of money. Companies like Bechtel, Kellogg Brown & Root, Halliburton, and large investment companies like the Carlyle Group that his daddy and the Saudi Royal Family invests heavily in. So, you see it is the Saudi's, the Bush family, Ken Baker and those who run the Carlyle group and Halliburton that are making more money off this war and the slaughter of Iraqi families and our American troops that are profitting in billions from this war. Our tax dollars are being funneled right to them for this war. I'm not even mentioning all the fraud and bogus billion dollar contracts going on with some contractors. The Carlyle group owns alot of military industrial corporations who are doing business with our government in Iraq.
So you see, it's not just the oil corporations, its all the war profiteers as well.

Sounds about right along with building a pipe line and securing the needed land for bases in the middle east to protect the pipe line .

Bush couldn't tie his own shoelaces. Cheney is really running the show, and he OKd the push to invade Iraq in order to make money for his munitions company, Halliburton, which has been awarded billions of dollars' worth of contracts without even asking for them.

No I don't agree! That's the simple minded way out of researching the truth... Just keep believing what all the Liberals want you too.!!

If he wanted to up the gas prices, I don't think he would have had to start an entire war to do it... And it probably wouldn't have been as linked to him as this is... So i seriously doubt that's the route he would have went.
