I have a modem and everything, but i didn't want to pay the extra for tv its way too much money..

Although they use the same cable to deliver the service, the TV signal and the internet signal are seperate and must be turned on at the source by your cable company. There is nothing you can do to get a TV signal if the cable company has not enabled cable TV on your account. Sorry.....

A lot of people really don't realize that yes there are two different type of signals. but it you use a company like COX cable they do turn on the CATV signal for basic cable when the internet is connected. You say you have highspeed Net. I am assuming it is a cable company's high speed net. Just take the cable from the modem and plug it to your television. if it works, buy a cable splitter and all is well.
