I have read an article about the most controversial films ever made in an EW magazine awhile ago. Some of the picks were "Alladin" (1992), Caligula, which you named, Untied 93, and so forth. You should read the article. It is very interesting.

I would have to say all of Michael Moore's films....Bowling for Columbine, Farenheit 911 and his lastest Sicko..............So much controversy but in my opinion, I think these are some really great films...

The Passion of the Christ
I love the story of Jesus but I took great offense that people marveled over the gore more than the message of Jesus.
I was also disgusted that people brought itty-bitty kids to watch the film. I agree with people teaching their kids what they believe in but there are methods to teaching religious messages to kids other than showing them graphic violence.
