Video cards can output in most any resolution.

When choosing a monitor and deciding the native resolution, ask yourself;

What is the resolution that I normally have and are used to?
Do I want a larger resolution? (more on screen, but all smaller)
If I want a larger resolution, can my video card display it at a reasonable FPS (Frames Per Second) for the application or game I am running?

If you do want a larger resolution and don't know if your video card can output reasonable frame rates, check hardware sites for 'video card reviews'. All the sites have these kind of reviews, but you won't find one matching native monitor resolutions to video cards.

Try out some screen resolution sizes, and find which one you like to look at, then decide your monitor.

Unless it is a really odd ball panel, or >1920 by 1200, then the latest drivers for your video card will support the monitor.
