even if it was just for a second then you thought "wait a minute!!!"
I was fooled by Corto Maltese, mentioned in "Batman" (1989) and Isthmus (Licence to Kill 1989). I think the secret is to have a plausible sounding name (Freedonia doesn't quite cut it) I kind of got wise to it after that. Anyone else been caught out by fictional geography?

..Please don't get fictional countries confused with fictional worlds. I'm not talking about Narnia, Oz, Middle Earth, Terabithia, Krull or anywhere like that.

All right, seeing as someone's mentioned it, we'll include fictional towns and cities as well (yes I know that Burkittsville is real, but "Blair" isn't)

During my first marriage, after watching "Dante's Peak" my husband was ready to pack us up and move to that little town.
After watching "The Princess Diaries" he tried convincing the kids that Genovia was a real place. Even the kids knew better!

Yeah that "Blair Witch Project" - my boyfriend at the time told me it was real and didn't tell me the truth until it was over - i **** myself! Remember it? It was about some college kids who went to camp in the woods, weird things were happening, and there had been reports of a witch living in those woods. The whole thing was as though the kids were filming it themselves with a video camera!

I had the opposite thing happen to me. In Zoolander, one guy said "Micronesia" but he meant to say "Malaysia" so I thought it was just some funny made up country.
...until I found out Micronesia was real, and then I felt really dumb
