Greeks and Kurds?

I know that Greeks used to support Kurds..

But now that Greek and Turkish relationships are better.. do Greeks still support the Kurds

Masses are so easy to manipulate!
A moment the masses support something and next moment they are against it!
Around 1920, the Father of Turkey, Kemal, promised the Kurds a state if they would help to exterminate enemies, mainly Greeks, and they did a genocide! Since then, the Kurds have taken what is good to the followers:nothing!
Thus, although they are many millions, they don't have a state and everyone is against them!
As cpinatsi mentioned, Greeks having gone through so much trouble and genocides, support the ones who have be more depressed and wish justice to rein!
Greeks are not against anyone, but support some more than others, on specific issues and cases!
The people of Greece and Turkey and all regions have nothing to separate, the rulers have!
Greece has always been a large "hug" accepting all those who suffer in their countries and wish to excel, get a better future, achieve something! Greeks are giving part of their food to the needy, even from what they will take from themselves! This is not politics, it's Greek habit, for millenia!
Greeks always work on bringing on common table all people: Palestinians and Israelis, Turks - Kurds - Armenians - ..., Christians and Muslims, rich and poor, lucky and miserable! You see that in Greece and where Greeks are all the time!
Thus, Greeks are friends with the people of Turkey, regardless of their racial acceptance and beliefs!

Greeks will always support nations like Kurds. Governments are always corrupted and manipulated but.......
Greek people, everyday people always supported and felt compassion for Kurds, Palestinians. Greeks have great relations with almost all the Mediterranean nations. You see thousands of years of common history and cultural relationship can not be forgotten.

During the eighties, Greeks supported politically the Kurdish people as an oppressed nation that is not recognized within Turkey. This is still the official position for the majority of EU nations including Greece. Other than that, Greeks never had and will never have any cultural ties with the Kurds (as opposed to the Armenians).

The Kurds, as any other nation, are entitled to have a country and to be recognised as a nation within other states. That has not changed. It is the same with Palestinians, etc. Wanting a just solution to the problems of some nations doesn't mean we hate the Turks or anything. Personally, I would have the same feelings even if I was Turkish or Israeli, and I know some do.

Theoritically Greeks support the right of any nation to have its homeland...But actually the majority of Greek people have either indefferent or negative feeling for Kurds.. And that's because of their aggressiveness through the centuries. In common greek opinion Kurd is a synonyme to atrocity, well justified by the Smyrna (Izmir) experience in 1922.
And let's be frank, this is true. People expecting to get on board the ships in the harbour of Smyrna got violated and killed by Kurds who didn't behave as soldiers but as sloughterers, as if they had unsolved problems with the Greeks too...

Edit: There's a great difference between Palestinis and Kurds.. And please, give me a break! Kurds are not mediterranean...

Edit: Doppest Albanian watch your mouth. You don't know me and ofcourse you wouldn't ever have the opportunity to.
Just keep in mind that you should have some essential respect for the country which provides you with jobs, money, food and any kind of opportunity to go on with your private and public life, while in return it gets hatrade and criminal behaviour. Period.

I would like to see an independent Kurdistan and when Turkey becomes an EU member, an independent Kuridstan will also become an EU member.

Greece supports Kurdish independence but essentially gave up Ocalan to the Turks because he was too much of a headache to deal with.

The Kurds have turned northern Iraq into Paradise - unlike Baghdad or other parts of Iraq.

This is a very good question. You see Greece supports no one but Greece and their Orthodox fanatic allies, and anything or anyone that is anti-Turkish.
Look at the posters above my post, notably the hypocrite DELLAROVERE, who claims " Theoritically Greeks support the right of any nation to have its homeland." But mention the freedom loving people of Kosovo and all this so called civilization goes out the window. Do not be fooled by the Greek general policy of supporting a free Kurdistan, it's all a mask for the weakening of Turkey.
I support a free Kurdistan but not for the same reasons as Greece does. My reasons are genuine.

I cant understand why Greece has to interfere in the kurdish topic, and i really still wonder about it...
Greece has other priorities in this moment..(the answer is with all the respect to everyone)..
