Winifred is very cute. Old fashion but I bet it'll be back in style in a few years. Look what happened with Abigail. Winnie is adorable. Freya and Winifred are kind of related because of the "Fre" part but they aren't the same. What about Gretta? Just a thought.

I went to college in the early 80's with a girl named Winifred, and she was called Winnie. I had never met a young Winnie before, but the name reallly suited her- she was petite, slim, with dark hair in a pixie cut- totally adorable. Freya is a very feminine, "old fashioned" style name, so I think it would be great with Winifred. I'm sure some Britney's and Madison's wish their parent's had used a little more imagination so go with your heart- if YOU love the name, go with it.

Love Winifred! And how sweet is the nickname Winnie :)
I think Winnie and Freya go great together, such a classy, respectable sibset. Weird isn't the word I'd use. Uncommon and spunky is how I'd classify them.
Just a heads up - This forum tends to be very "trendy", meaning classic, legit names don't always go over real well here, sadly. You may enjoy this site: www.bigbadbabynames.com
Fun forum with smart people who enjoy names with meaning and history.
Good luck!

I love the name Winifred as well, and Winnie is just darling. I believe your daughter would like her name because it isn't a commonly used name. I think she would like her individuality and not being confused with other people. I do believe Freya and Winifred do go well together. I hope you find this helpful!

Even though I have an aunt with the name Winifred I don't like the name. Freya is pretty cool name and maybe you can pick another Scandanavian like it or a different mythological name like Hera or Coyolxauqui.

My great aunt was named this, but it was spelled Winfrid which I like better.
I think Freya and Winfrid are nice together.
I think it sounds sophisticated and Winne or Wynne or Friddy is a cute nickname.
I must say my Great Aunt hated it and went by Kay (her last name was Knudtsen)

In germany people would think you are weird. The only person in germany to be called like this that I know is Winifred Wagner, daughter of the composer Wagner who was staunch racist and Nazi.Same with Freya.Germans will assume theres a political statement behind that, something thats related to Nazism, since Neo-Nazis in germany like to use old german names.
In the US, however, I guess noone will care (or know).

I like it. There's nothing wrong with different or old fashioned names. When I was growing up Ruby wasn't a cool name and now it's getting popular so you never know, Winifred might come back in style!

I don't personally like it, but my sister had a boyfriend whose name was Winter, and they called her Winnie.
[She was born in the summer...so I don't know why they named her that.]
I think Winnie is an adorable name!

You have wonderful classic taste! They're not weird, they're refreshing and gorgeous to see among a sea or McKaylas, McKenzies, Maddisons, Nevaehs, and any other digustingly trendy name.
