When I was a cheerleader we couldn't have anything metal in our or on our bodies. That included those little snappy hair clips to hold your bangs back. Bobby pins were the only thing. It will affect your cheering because of the pain. Not all piercings heal at the same rate. Plus when stunting it's possible to get it caught on someones hair/uniform/hand whatever, and be ripped out.
I'm assuming that your under 18 as well. I'm def. hoping your not under 16. It's a proven fact that children under 16 with anything aside from ear piercings have a harder time getting it to heal and have a better chance of having it grow OUT of the body. You'd look pretty silly with no belly button. In all honesty I would wait until your either 18 or out of HS.

Well I just currently had cheer camp. but I could not go I got terribly sick and well my parents would not allow it besides I felt like ****. But all my friends said at camp its nonstop cheering. You rarely gets breaks. So I would wait till after camp, or maybe till the end of the summer. So you can still go swimming. Because with the new piercing your not supposed to go swimming for like a month cause its new. Im getting mine once summer is over, which I start school on august 3 so thats pretty soon. And of my friends that have gotten it done, they sore it made there stomach pretty damn sore. Like if someone poked them in the stomach they would scream. And you being a flyer, you get caught in all positions so that might become painful... so like I said wait untill like the summer is over, so you can still have fun. And with that, it can heal over the winter, and by next summer it will look really damn good!

yes it would. first of all, you're not allowed to have piercings on your body while stunting in cheer and second of all, it takes at least a 6 weeks for a new piercing to heal, especially a belly button piercing. I have one, so i know what im talkin about. take care.

It might not effect your chance of being on the squad, but It might hurt. When I got mine, It hurt for at least a month after I got it done. So consider that.

it'll probably hurt for a while especially if your a flyer. and plus you aren't allowed to have your belly button pierced on a cheerleading squad. and if you do they make you take it off at practice. and if you take it off it'll close up

It doesn't hurt to bad as long as you keep it clean.
My only opinion though is the injury factor.
Its very possible that it could get ripped out doing stunts and stuff.
