suck it up and stick it in. Tampons are the only way to go on this one unless u want to back out. Tampons are easy to incert if u read the instructions. Sounds like your new to the period thing ( since your having irregular periods which is common for younger people who have recently started their period.. some people dont regulate till they are 18) So just use a tampon, they are better imo and more sanitary. my oppinion again, but try it. then once the swimming thing is over.. go back to pads. problem solved.
also if you decide to go the tampon route.. i advise to practice inserting a few tampons before so you can get the hang of where its supposed to sit. Tampons must be inserted all the way in, if it doesnt feel right, take it out and try again. May take a few tries before u get it. Be patient though and take your time. This is in case you have never used a tampon before to know how to use it. Goodluck

Well sweetie, you certainly cant wear a pad at your swimming competition. You basically have two choices: wear a tampon or dont go to the competition. Tampons are not bad at all. If you position them right, you cant even feel them. Just make sure that it's in far enough and youll be fine. I promise. Good luck and best wishes

hun, there's nothing else you can do but wear tampons. if you already had it for 6 days but it started again, it might stop within the next day or so. try using the ultraslim tampons that are good for teens. they're the best if you never have used them before.

go to the doctor. your period shouldn't just start up again. you could have an infection or something. Maybe you'll just have to get over it and wear tampons.
