I treatd her for four days- as it said to on the bottle, but for some reason she has not od rid of these two white spots on her back fin. The first time she had white pot (earlier on in the year) it went away after the four days!
What should I do?!!!!

Thanks for the kind words and vote of confidence AJ.

Soince your fish had white spot (ich) once before and you beat it back, I assume it must look the same this time around for you to be calling it white spot again. If it's not exactly the same this time, then others are most likely correst that you are fighting a different disease. I would however point out that no treatment makes the actual white spots dissapear off of the fish, it only prevents more of them. I would suggest you treat for 1-2 more days and turn the heat up in your tank to 85F or higher... 88F wouldn't be a bad idea. If after 2 more days of that temperature and medication in the tank the spots are still there, it's certainly not ich. If one or both dissappear during this time, keep up the treatment for 5 more days to be sure you have cleaned the ick out of your tank.

So if it's ich, you have a plan. If it's not, then it's more likely to be a fungus or possibly even saddle back disease (columnaris). To treat both of those, you can try Fungus Eliminator from Jungle labs. It's available in most pet shops and even in Walmart and contains effective fungus medications as well as effective external columnaris medication. Treat wht that for 7-10 days and it should clear it right up.

If you have any other questions feel free to email me.

keep up the medication even after 4 days keep the medication going for at least 2 weeks and for the first week turn up the heater in your tank 2 degrees every hour until its up to at least 86 Fahrenheit then leave it for about a day then put the medication in the medication doesn't do any good when the white spot is at its egg stage but turning up the temperature makes the eggs hatch faster and then the medication will work better and when you buy the medication expose of the label it does you no good because the people who make the stuff don't know crap about fish

Are you sure your fish has ich ? Ich will normally have a lot of small white spots. With just 2 spots it may be a fungus infection which will take a different medicine. Be sure to remove your carbon before treating your tank as the carbon will take out the med. Also do a water change -
several gallons not the whole tank.

I would suspect that its some type of fungal infection and not white spot, and you will need a different Propriatary treatement for something that treats velvet or cotton wool desease, probably containing malacite green.

MM is probably the best person to email, he's really up on treatments.

and knows whats on your shelf

can take as many as 7-8 days. ick has a life cycle of 4 days, and the white spots are cysts on your fish. a few too many and they will die. keep treating it. cool your tank down a bit (it works for me), and no more fish from walmart and petco
