wait until after the baby shower. then you will have a ton of stuff and you will know what you are missing. Diapers aren't that expensive that you have to buy them in installments. Your baby could grow out of them before you use them all! if you are really having financial issues, you may want to look into a program like WIC which can give you discounts on other things like formula, cereal, milk and juice. this will help you save money for things like diapers and clothes.

Here's the trick on that, check with the stores in your area and see if they accept exchanges without reciepts. Babies can grow at different rates, and some diapers work better for different babies. Most moms I know used Pamper's Swaddlers for sizes N-1, and possibly 2, so thats pretty safe, but you might be better off buying 2-3 packs in each size up to 2, then putting away $40 a month or so for diapers after the baby is born, that way you dont have to go through the exchange hassle.

I wouldn't start buying anything until you are past about 20 weeks. Even then, I don't recommend stocking up on diapers. Babies grow so fast that you might end up with more of one size than you really need. I recommend buying one pack on Newborn and 1-2 pack of size one diapers. Then just buy as you need them. I would however stock up on wipes, you'll find that you use them for everything. As far as saving money, put the money you would be using to buy this diapers and put it in savings to help out with diapers and other things you need. Congrats!

I agree with ddysgirl. You also dont know how much your baby is going to weigh at birth. It might be a big baby that has to wear size 1 diapers from the get go. Just put the money aside and save it. Also you dont want to buy too much stuff because you'll probably get lots of things at your baby shower. So I suggest you wait also till after that, then whatever you didnt get at the baby shower you can go buy yourself. Good luck!

how about you start an ing savings account. deposit the money you want to spend on diapers every other week in to the account and gain interest on it. that way in 8 months when you need to start buying you will have more money than you thought.
plus you might get diapers or money at a baby shower...
no sense cluttering up the house with diaper packs till the baby arrives.
plus if you see something else you want for the baby you can just xfer the money in to your account and get it instead of looking at a pack of diapers and saying... man you should be that cute outfit i was looking at! :)

ps congrats

Well, I think that would be a waste of money. You never know how quickly your baby is going to grow out of each size of diaper. You may be left with too many diapers in one size. I would wait. I am sure you will receive plenty of diapers from family members and friends, esspecially if you have a baby shower. Also, I think the hospital always sends some home with you.

I'd hold off on buying right now....you have plenty of time and if you are going to have a baby shower I wouldn't buy anything until after so you can see what you got and didn't get. I haven't even had my baby shower yet and people are already buying me things for my unborn daughter so just hold off for a little, I know it's exciting but if you want to go out and buy a little something here and there thats fine.....sometimes I'll go buy the baby section in stores and buy a blanket or a stuffed animal....you're pregnant...enjoy it!

Congrats

Instead of buying the actual merchandise put X amount of dollars on a walmart, target, etc gift card. You can keep adding money and by the time the baby is born you'll have some loot. Its not tempting because its not cash and if u know its for the baby you'll get excited about all the things you can buy

well there's just one issue with that; you don't know how long baby will be in size X diapers; what you could do as an alternative is stick say 10 bucks in an envelope that's marked diaper money and just save that way and keep that put back for strictly diapers.... don't forget that if you do have a baby shower more than likely you will get diapers for that....

I would wait until you are closer to halfway there. You don't want to have to store all those diapers for 7 more months.

If you started buying them twice a month when you are 20 weeks, then you could have enough to start you off.
