Realize this, if a person gets 20% off then they have to pay 80% of the original price.

Given this we can figure out that just given the sale price of 15%off they would have to pay $382.50- 450*.85 (they get 15% off so they pay 85%)

But we know that they also get an additional 20% off (meaning they pay 80% of the lowest price). So we take out sale price 382.50 and mulitply by 80% to get $306.

If the dishwasher costs $450, and it is 15% off, then you would pay 85% of the price (100%-15% = 85%)

$450 * 0.85 = $382.50

Now, the employee gets another 20% off that price, so the employee would pay 80% of $382.50:

$382.50 * 0.80 = $306

The employee would pay $306 for the dishwasher.

The sale price is $450 - 15%.
The staff sale price is ($450 - 15%) - 20%
= $450 * 0.85 * 0.8
= $306.

Original price = 450
15% off sale

price (after 15% off) = 450 * .85 = 382.5

Price (after 20%off employee discount)
= 382.5 * (.80) = 306
