It's very hard to find any newer car with out a/c.Trucks they are options.some imports no a/c.Look at the heat control on the dash it should say a/c in that area.

look uder the hood under the alternater there should be a compressure there ,and also look for two metal lines running into the firewall

yes, there was an option for ac in 89
