If I understand you, you just bought a Phillips with a wireless network card. You also have a laptop which has a wireless network capability.

You did not say anything about an Internet connection but I presume you have either DSL or CATV Internet (cable modem).

If you want to connect both pcs to the Internet, you must have a router. Once this is done you can swap files between pcs in folders that are set up for network sharing.

Because the 2 are wireless, you want a router that has wireless built in. If you have a router that does not have built in wireless you can purchase a Wireless Access Point and plug it into your network.

Well, there are 2 issues at hand here: Wireless Card/Capable and Wireless Network. If you only have your PC and your laptop, you do not have a wireless network, thus cannot connect to your laptop from your pc and vice versa. Think of this as a Point A and Point B. In order to walk from point A to B, you need some kind of road leading to and from. In a nut shell, you will need to first establish a wireless connection and that's where the router comes in. So, yes you need a wireless router. You will need to setup a Wireless network first before these two devices can talk to each other. I hope this helps.

so your new pc has wireless card and your laptop does as well, do you connect wirelessly to the net with your laptop? If so all you need is to set up a home network, then you can transfer files back and forth between pc and laptop. Use the windows home network configuration from your control panel. Hope this helps

You usually need a wireless router to broadcast an internet signal from your modem. I don't think your computers can wirelessly connect w/out one, but try this. Go to my network places in the start menu and view network connections. If you can see the user names of each computer, than they are "talking". At that point set up your network using the wizard and don't forget to allow file sharing on files w/ the right click option for sharing.

If your just wanting to share files between these two you can use the wireless in AD-Hoc mode. This is two or more wireless devices just sharing data. Check with the documentation on how to set this mode up on your laptop and PC.

If your PC has a wireless card and your laptop as well then the question is do you have a wireless router?
If no, then go and buy one. It is easy to setup.

If you have issues email me.
