My city just passed a smoking ordinace which outlaws smoking in all places open to the public. They also set up a phone line where people could call in and report violations and the police would investigate. The mayor of our town who pushed this ordinancd through belongs to AA. The first day the ordinance was in affect, someone call the number on the AA meeting, the police investigated, and issued three citations, one to the mayor!

No. It is council enforced. Police cant get involved unless person, smoking, refuse to put it out inside enclosed building. Hence there is loads still flouting the law around in England. People have been smoking inside bus shelter in my hometown, non smokers turn blind eye and do nothing! Even I am non smoker myself, i think the law is an ***!

Yes, probably! But they wont come, they'll be out the back of the cop shop, having a ciggie!
Did you know that you can't write the word beginning with f, ending with g with an a in the middle when giving another name for a cigarette?

There's a hierarchy of authority to follow. Best check with management first... see if the fellow or lady is smoking in a designated smoking place.
Thing is, you can choose whether you want to breathe that smoke in or not. If smoking is allowed at that place and you don't want to breathe in the smoke, then don't frequent that place. Case closed.

yea... its against the law. It's also a hazard to other people's health and they should have the choice if they want to inhale it or not, and when they are inside that place they chose not to. Some people are so allergic to smoke that they could die.

Sure you can. And you can file charges when the police invite you to take a flying leap. See how far _that_ gets you.

You can make a 'citizen's arrest' and claim your right to moral supremacy, but I promise you 'll be the first to go when the revolution comes.
