Samuel needs to be smart and play he is in a completely different situation than the rest of these hold outs(franchise tag guys) the Patriots will not budge because they can play well without him. They will just put randy Moss or a reciever at CB (See Troy Brown) and they will continue to win. Remember all of the Patriot faithful thought TY Law and Lawyer Milloy couldn't be moved now they have harrison and Samuel. He needs to play out his contract.

Asante Samuel is holding out for more money as soon as New England slapped him with the Franchise Tag. He feels he's playing for "not enough" money, when he had one good year as a starter. He's asking for the same amount or HIGHER than Nate Clements deal... that my friend is Greed and no way are Bill Belichick and Robert Craft giving him that kind of money.
When you think about it, they dont need Samuel. Sure he emerged on the NFL scene last year, but before that, he was just another no-name cornerback playing for the scheme; and the beauty part about it is Belichick has more of those no name corner's ready to play just as well as Samuel did.
So most likely he'll skip traning camp, the preseason, and the regular season until Week 10 so that this year counts as a contract year, hit the free agent market, and place a team in salary cap hell. Sure he is a good corner, but when your talking about making almost 20 million more than Champ Bailey, and hasn't even been consistent or as dominant as Bailey?? Good luck living up to that contract.

ok Asante Samuel felt like he wasnt treaded fair in NE so he wanted a trade but NE wouldnt let that happen because he really is a great player so he is holding out waiting to see what happens and the Franchise tag is so that NE wont have to pay

what i wished would happen was they would trade him to the vikings for antoine winfield, but the situation in minnesota with winfield cooled off, so that wont happen i guess. now i hope both asante and lance briggs hold out until who knows when.

He has no choice as the franchise player...If he does well this year, I'm sure they will sign him to a long term deal...He's not helping his case by being a butthead, though...
