That isn't right, we should get health care too. I also think it would be neat if their salaries were equal to the average annual income of every person who works. That way, they have an interest in putting more money in our pockets and can not just vote themselves a raise. This should go for everyone from the President, his Cabinet, the Senate, and to the House.

I firmly beleive politicians should get as payment for their time in office the same pay and benefits as the lowest person on the scale. They are OUR servants. First off.....it would end "career" politicians and the necessity for term limits. Secondly it would give them a taste of the "common man" where they aren't so out of touch anymore. Thirdly.....maybe it would stop this attitude that they are somehow "superior" and untouched by the decisions they make.

Ya.....like to have seen Cheney sit in the waiting room at the ER here for a change. It might make them wake-up to life below the crystal palace. You have to "qualify" for federal funds on the low end......they should financially "qualify" for the funds at the other end. Sorry dude.....you don't NEED this money......you don't DESERVE this raise coz you didn't do your job! Sorry...400 dollar haircuts isn't in the budget. Face lifts aren't a "necessary operation". OOOps....fired for drinking on the job! Fired....a tad to "friendly" to co-workers. Family emergency? Sorry...pick one...family or job? Getting your nails done isn't an excuse for an absence. I don't CARE if it's VACATION TIME.....there's a job to do! NO ONE leaves till the job is done! HAAAAA

Without the perks? Who'd sign on? Probably true Americans......if they ever stood a chance.

Government workers get government benefits, just like private employees get company benefits.

The way to get affordable health care coverage comes down to your job choice.

I disagree with universal healthcare coverage for several reasons, most of them political. But the main "non-political" reason is that I do not want the government making choices about healthcare.

It's a fringe benefit that goes with the job. I actually have BETTER healthcare than they do! ;)

(Not all politicians have healthcare through their elected office, by the way.)

they do not get free health care , when you have a job it is usually a benefit as a award for not being worthless
