I have slightly weird pets.

Currently I own a Leopard Gecko,12 Praying Mantids,4 Tarantulas and an African Pygmy Hedgehog.I also have more normal pets too lol.

In the past I've also had Scorpions and Stick Insects and loads of other weird invertebrate pets.

I also have tame semi-pets-my local pair of Magpies and my local pair of Blackbirds and the local family of Red Foxes. They come to get fed and will take food from my hand and let me stroke them but they are still wild as they come and go as they like etc.

Non-living: I used to have a sock called Joster and some moss caklled Sterling (no joke! I thought it was just a cool sounding name when my brother suggested it - didn't know there was a driver called Sterling Moss lol)

Living: probably a caiman called Bernard. He was abandoned at the side of the road, in a box with a note saying "My name is Bernard and I bite". I know people with big cats, wolves, all kinds of reptiles. My uncle had a fox called Snipe, and a jackdaw. You could have a proper conversation in English with the jackdaw. They are a lot more intelligent than most parrots.

But you know what? This is England. We can keep anything here, and we do. Which is definitely not a good thing. Most of the wild animals I know of that are pets eventually ended up as one of those animals in a zoo with sad eyes and a sob story attached to their name.

I wish people would stick to dogs and cats - they make the best pets of all. I would even go on to say that a caiman, which you can't stroke or cuddle or have any kind of relationship with, isn't even a pet in the first place. I have a dog and a cat. I have been through lizards, snakes, fish, all kinds of insects...but in the end I decided that a dog and a cat is a perfect mix of pets. The dog makes you feel marvellous and the cat puts you in your place, but both will come up to you for love and strokes - which an African poisonous killer turtle will not do.

My Mom's family had a pet groundhog that lived with them...evidently he was abandoned by his mother and they took him in. They would leave their upstairs bathroom window open and that's where he would come and go...I'm sure there are others that are more odd, but figured I'd give it a shot;)

There was a bloke at our office who kept 2 pirhana fish at work and fed them with bits of bacon from the office canteen. Eventually one of the pirhana ate the other one.
