Zebras have stripes so they can blend more easily into the landscape and tall grasses...they also make it more difficult for predators to figure out where one zebra ends and another begins within the herd:)

So they don't look like horses!!! lol Just kidding, I don't know why and I don't think anyone else will have a good explanation for that. But good question, and I'm not just trying to be a suck-up. Though I think some people will think of the reason sometime or later in the future. Don't you?

If theyre being hunted, they hid in bushes. Their stripes make them look like shadows in the bushes because of the contrast to black and white.

It works as camouflage. It makes it harder to see them in the grassy areas where they live.
