Well I just read that Sochi, Russia was chosen over South Korea to host the 2014 Winter Olympics. This is Russia's first Winter Olympics and to many the Olympics are still a very big deal.

Do something on immigration. You could also do something on Iran. I'm sure the National News section of your local newspaper could give you tons of ideas as well. That's one thing about this world, there's always something controversial going on somewhere.
