Space and time. Are points that were adjacent to each other in time, seperating? Is there going to be a point where the expansion of the universe exceeds the rate at which time passes?

time is not expanding, it is passing due to space being in existence. time is not actually a force or it does not have a physical explanation. it was invented by mankind, however, we can say that time started when the universe was created. so time cannot expand or it cannot stop. if the universe for instance underwent the big crunch, where everything receeds into the point from where it all started, the centre of the expanding univers, then time would just stop because time has no relevance when there is no universe.

I know the answer to this.

Time would expand up to a point. Then it would stop. Then there would be a huge flash and a bang. Then it would be like Armaggeddon.

The reason I know this is by simple experiment and observation.

When I was younger, I put a clock in my Mum's microwave.

Sure enough, it expanded. Then it stopped. Then there was an almighty bang. Then my Mum came in.
What happened next was too terrifying to repeat.!

One constant will keep things in order: the speed of light which is constant no matter what.

Not my fault, that is what Einstein said !

The other part of the question: if time would stop, I guess the Universe would vanish.

Humanity has no grasp on what may happen when that point occurs. Heck, it might've already occurred, and we just don't realize it.
