Our oldest son has sent UK checks to his younger brother and sister as gifts. We are members of some big credit unions but they wouldn't take them so we ended up depositing them into our Bank of America checking account, and the teller prepared the deposit slip as well as had the currency conversion rates right at his/her fingertips... Basically you would be best off depositing or cashing foreign cheques/money orders at a major US bank and FYI when we send money to him and his fiance, we do so with cashiers checks from Bank of America.

Hope the Above Info Helps!

LOL here in the UK we can only put money orders through our bank accounts!

Are we talking a reasonable amount here? If so, AuctionPix might be your answer.

definitely no, the fee cost which you will cough as much as get it cashed and the concern of having it cashed will a strategies outweigh the advantages except this is a great kind of money or perhaps then which would be a great kind of % to lose.

Can be a fake or counterfit; lots of them are these days as part of E-bay and overpayment scams.

Banks take them; with a great deal of caution.
