I need to replace my stone age desktop and plan to replace it with a laptop. I am starting school in Aug. and have no clue which would be best for me. I'm going for Drafting and Design.

I am running AutoDesk MEP 2008. The Laptop I am using is the HP Pavilion dv9230us. Basically stick with Intel dual core, 2 gig of ram & 256 video card (512 if possible) and you should be in great shape. HP I find to be one of the best Laptops to run complicated software. That and Toshiba.

You may well hear different...but a pro friend of mind swears by his Mac with 24" screen!

i would guess somthing good with a high resolution screen and decent graphics .. look at sager ...
