It doesn't matter how much Hillary is hated. Bush has guaranteed no repug will be in the White House in '08.
Americans are that simple.

Yes, that poll does exist. The interesting thing about it though is that this is the only candidate that this question is asked about. You don't see any other polls asking "Would you ever vote for [insert name other than Clinton] for any reason?" Just Hillary. So how many of those 50% are Republicans? You can take them out of the equation no matter who the Dems run.
I get a kick out of it though because when it's pointed out to them that her support has done nothing but grow larger, and the latest polls show her kicking everyone's butt, including moving ahead of all Republican candidates for the first time, they say very quickly - well, polls don't mean a thing. But they just love the "50%" Hillary poll lol.
Obviously math is not their strong point, they keep insisting she has no chance while her numbers say the exact opposite. I think it's called desperation. The bottom line is that a good many of those 50%er's who are Democrat will indeed vote for Hillary when faced with voting for a Republican. Also, if the war is still raging and they haven't done something about their many scandals, the Dems could run Bugs Bunny and win the election.
As a side note, the other poll they love is the one showing Congress has a terrible approval rating. But they never seem to talk about the fact that the Republicans in Congress have a much higher disapproval rating and a lower approval rating than the Democrats when the numbers are broken out. I know, they're bad at math, I guess they can't look too closely at those numbers either without getting confused.

I guess republicans recall what Hillary did while nesting in the White House for 8 years- although there are hundreds of examples, I;ll give you one- women's lib. How is anyone going to believe Hillary supports women's lib when she plays along in a fake marriage, putting up with a husband who has done dozens and dozens of women- a strong, intelligent woman stays with a philanderer? Plus, she set the women's rights movement back 50 years. They have no credibility and no longer have any voice in society. Hillary personally hired and dispatched the goons and gangsters who attacked and harassed the dozens of women who had been involved, attacked, raped, groped, propositioned by her husband. During Paula Jones, she led the attack. She knew it was true and didn't care. The hypocrisy- women's lib led the charge against Sen Packwood and had him tarred and feathered; when Bill boy did far worse, women libbers attacked the victim along with Hillary. At the end of the day, Hillary was proven to be only loyal to power and her ambition for power; she proved to the world that she was not genuinely committed to anything she pretended to be....

I think they think if they say something enough, someone will believe it.
Kind of how some ridiculous songs get played over and over on the radio, until one day you're singing it, even if you don't particularly like it.
Like a stupid commercial advertisement on tv. The message is droned out so much until you know it verbatim.
Hopefully people can distinguish what they hear from what they know is true.
Lots of people like to polarize issues and not take each issue and stance on its own merit. Look at the point of view and not who is saying it.

Because more than 50% of Conservatives hate her. Plenty of liberals dislike her, but no where near as many as on the other side.
Personally, I don't think I'd vote for her. She'd be almost as divisive as Bush has been, just in the other direction. We don't need that.

As a Republican I am hopeful Hillary wins the Democratic primary. Hillary is a polarizing figure. Regardless of what a poll may indicate she is incapable of winning a presidential election.

It wasn't about liking her, it was about voting for her... ie: all who wouldn't vote in a woman, a Clinton, etc...
Look at it this way, if it were about personal dislike, she has the Prez beat by 22 points still ;-)

Not disliked. The poll they are citing was one that had 52% of registered voters polled saying that they would not vote for Hillary under any circumstances.
