Atlantis is one of the missing cities. The others that come to mind are Lumeria, Mu, and El Dorado. I do believe they existed. Quite a few legends and religions discuss how mankind had reached a high level of technology (from the readings it sounded like the later iron age when the rest of humanity was working with stone, copper, and/or bronze). Some form of calamity hit them and they fell, but not before some survivors reached different areas of the world. The more I read about these cities and the more I read about historical findings, the more I believed these civilizations existed. I don't think they were super humans, just humans with better technology, medicine, travel, etc. It is becoming undetstood that the ancient Phoenicians, Eygptians and other civilizations had regular trade with the Americas and the various Native American civilizations. We are finding that ancient ships could have crossed the oceans and when we put more of each cultures writings, histories, records, and legends together, we find that the many cultures around the world were not only aware of but dealt with other cultures on different continents.

I believe it could exit, go the website and look at its findings on atlantis.

The legend of Atlantis made its way to the West through the works of Plato about 2,400 years ago, but this story is actually much older. Roughly 2,600 years ago, the Greek statesman, Solon (known as the “father of democracy”), traveled to Egypt and met with the high priests of the land. This trip was widely documented by Greek historians as Solon was a legendary figure even in his own time; consequently we know for certain that the trip did take place and even where the meeting was held.

As a student of the occult I see The Atlantean root race as a fact in our long past. The goal of this race was to develop and perfect the emotional-astral body in which it has done very well,so well indeed that it is now the seat of mans present polarization. This civilization came to a violent end about 800 thousand years ago through its abuse of soul powers and technology.

Atantis is a fictional city that Homer made up. A better question to ask is why people started thinking it was an actual place. In a few thousands years, will people be looking for Hogwarts?
