Why are Liberals not fussing over Al Gore's son being arrest the other day? They wouldn't have a problem fussing if it was the son of a member of the GOP.

I could care less about the incident. He's in his early 20's, these things happen. But my point is, if this had been one of Bush's daughters, then every other question on here would have been baggin on the Bush family. But because it's the son of a Democrat, then I guess it's ok. Shows how much more mature Conservatives can be over all considering they aren't wasting their time baggin on Al Gore's family about this.

Two phrases come to mind immediately.
"Do as I say, not as I do"
"Symbolism over substance"

It always amazes me how people can scream to the rooftops about the opposition, but never notice bad behavior from their chosen side. I actually had a guy argue with me in email for 3 weeks about William Jefferson before he was indicted. He kept telling me that there would never be an indictment and that Democrats never lie. Unfortunately I have seen many conservatives who aren't much better in this area. My thought has always been you either believe in equal justice for all, or you don't, but double standards are just hypocritical and annoying no matter who they come from.

The biggest problem I have is in the media and in the lib answers on this question already he was driving drunk, the Bush twins when they were drinking were not driving. And if being drunk and driving at 100 miles and hour on any US highway is not the worst a person can do then I would love to see it. We just had a study last week saying that Californian highways were the most busy in the country, so this fool gets behind the wheel and puts everyone at risk because he was too dumb to not call a friend or a cab, I'm sure if his dad can afford $30,000 utility bills a cab was not going to bankrupt the kid. This is where all the rich children need to be fully outed they drive drunk and risk others lives when they have the means to have a chauffeur or cab get them home. Having lost a friend to a drunk driver 31 years ago I have no sympathy for drunk drivers and when they are rich and drunk I really have no problem calling for them to lose their driving privileges but I am sure Al will get his son off.

What does it matter what Al Gores son did he is an adult and responsible for his actions as are the Bush twins. If most of the people who want to use this to make a political point would stop and think they would realize that they or someone in their family has at one time or another done something just as dumb .

**I got confused, this was also in current events!**

There are a lot of different ways this could be addressed.
Yeah, its disappointing, but its nothing our last two Presidents havent done.
What does that say about Al Gore? Not much really to be honest. Bored white upperclass children of celebrity's can get into all kinds of "extra curriculars", many much worse.
Doesnt mean that the Gore's are bad parents or bad people, they probably just werent around as much as they should have been.
It certainly shows poor judgement on junior's part, but the way things are today, it doesnt mean he cant be President someday.

This crap is becoming so common...famous people's kids getting busted for whatever. Although Al Gore is my favorite choice for President, here's what I'd do about his son, if I had the power: Go to jail or join the infantry. My children and grand-children share the freeways with nuts like Jr. Gore and I want his driver's license revoked. 100 mph, while stoned, makes his car a deadly weapon. Besides, he was on probation for drugs. Throw the book at him...make my family safer!

Al Gore said the matter was "personal and is being attended to." That should be sufficient. ALTHOUGH, when the president's daughters were caught drinking at an Austin, Texas bar while they were under age, his comments were not sufficient so there was a two month story about it on all the networks. We must understand that liberals will not only address their problems, they'll address ours as well. Just in a different manner. Its one of the benefits of being elite.

These boards would be FLOODED with nonsense about it . Gross comparisons of the father and son .
I'll tell ya one thing though . I won't attack Al simply because his son has made a mistake .

Now I'd like all the Liberals to read and re-read my answer . You always ask for good examples from the right . .. . well, there you have it !!

I wouldn't. When Bush's daughters got in trouble, you didn't see me saying anything. Why? They are young... it has nothing to do with whether someone can run a country or not. Plus, Gore isn't a politician at least for a elected seat in gov't anymore.

not to take the liberals side ... but im just saying...

.. the Kennedy family?

although i guess criticism of the Kennedy siblings and co. is warranted when they do stupid things that put 'their own people' .. who they claim to support and represent ... in extreme danger by driving a car erotically in the middle of the night while under the influence...

I'm with the Liberals on this one. I'm not with the Liberals in their other hypocrisies regarding their attacks on the Bush family. And others.

In a perfect world, everyone would try to be fair-minded. I cannot change the world. But I can try to keep my own nose clean.
