You can land a programming job in surprisingly many ways, none predictable...I worked graveyard shift loading trays of punched cards for IBM, while studying for an English degree. Now, loading trays of punched cards is, you understand, purely physical labor. But an employer gave me a programming job just based on mention of the word "IBM"...

Are you below 18? I believe it might be exceptional from state to state, but when you're over 18 in which I are living, you'll be able to simply take the GED experiment with out enrolling in a application... The application is most effective obligatory for minors. If you're a minor together with your 2d baby at the approach, there's a so much better difficulty right here. **ETA** If you probably did quite good at the pre-experiment, you can be satisfactory. Don't doubt your self... You will have to simply opt for it and get it performed.. If you do not cross, good you'll be able to regularly take it once more should you must... however I believe you're going to quite often cross it... The GED experiment quite isn't that difficult.

Freeware applications built is something you can put on your resume.

Having a degree in CS doesn't hurt.

Getting your first programming bullet on your resume helps, even if it's an "internship" (unpaid).

What skills do you have?

apply for one. Search on monster.com or dice.com and see what you get. It might help if you actually know the language.
