ONE- the British had a 3000 mile supply route over the Atlantic.
Two- The Americans had 1800 miles of coast, and the Brits could cover only a fraction of it.
Three- British blunders in not being more aggressive in 1776.
Four- American success in taking control of the civil government in every state-even after taking over large sections of territory, the Brits could not reinstate civil government loyal to the crown.
Five- active resistance by the local militias to British patrols and expeditions, making them remain close to support by their navy.
Six, Washington's successfully pulling the military together, keeping it from being too draining by stealing from the populace, keeping the support of the Cont'l Congress, giving control of the military to the civilian government. Hearts and Minds!
Seven- French aid- the French gave much money, arms, ammunition, and naval support.
Eight, Washington's strategy of keeping the British from holding large areas in the north by constant threat- he rarely risked loosing his army, just battles. You win wars not by winning battles, but by being the last army on hand.
The Brits and Americans used the same type of weapons, the same tactics. The Americans outlasted the Brits.
Nine- The Brits hold over American was a side show compared to their holdings over the rest of the world...they wanted to hold the West Indies and India much more than America, and had to divert much effort from America to counter the French and Spanish in the Carribean and Indian areas.
Ten- Americans fought for their homes, the Brits for the King. Not the same level of support at all!

I'm a NY Giants fan, and like the Steelers since the 70's but... the Patriots are being promoted for a very good reason, if you REALLY pay attention... (Love is BLIND, but don't be a blind fan). Too much $$$ is going the Steelers way -- and the one thing no one sees, is a 40-13 Patriots win... AND THAT IS WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. The Pats will blow the Steelers right out of New England -- and I am NOT a fan of NE in the least. Any Steelers fan that didn't see THE FIX with the NY Jets game, and the Miami game (even worse) -- isn't really paying attention. And that, is just sad if you're over 25 years old. One thing counts, in any high-profile game... and that is WHERE IS THE $$$ GOING. And anyone who thinks the "line" moves, along with betting, is a neophyte. You ca go back & forth with facts/stats for both sides... all day "till Sunday" -- and you'd be right... and guess what? even Patriots fans will lose $$$ on this game (that believe it will be close, or low scoring and take Tease bets, that way). The NFL's business plan is about gambling -- period, and all things stem from it. It's been perfected, since the 60's. DOES ANYONE TALK ABOUT HOW THE CHICAGO BEARS -- WITH THE BEST DEFENSE IN THE NFL LAST YEAR, ENOUGH TO GO THE SUPER BOWL.. doesn't rush the passer last night? THEY GOT 1 SACK. And their coaching allowed a backup's backup to throw at will, with very simple plays -- and why? BECAUSE THE NFL owed Joe Gibbs for throwing that game, the way he did vs. the Bills. The NFL is complex, and I won on the Redskins.. because I've seen this script before. The NFL set-up bettors 2 weeks in a row with 20-24+ spreads, and teased us with near-missed (gee? crazy how the QBs threw so many crucial picks, so late in both games -- and how the Pats were awarded 5-downs on 3 occasions AND a TD that wasn't caught, eh?).
