When - on British TV - we see American shows which feature couples "sleeping together" they seem to do it wearing underwear. The men always seem to have their pants on. Why? Is this normal? Have I been doing it wrong all these years...

Wasn't there something about a famous woman on a live TV show and her breast dropped out and the network got fined millions of $$.

What on earth is that about?

Yes, silly you are supossed to keep your knickers on, don't tell me you've been removing them. Americans are still quite prudish!!

To the idiot who said something about offended Christian "Rightwingers".... hey moron, it has nothing to do with their political affiliation. There's such a thing as Christians on the Left who are offended by nudity on TV too.

America is very repressed when it comes to sex. You find sexuality in EVERYTHING, espeically in sales. Hence the phrase, "Sex sells". That and the fact that porn is a $17 billion/year industry proves that we want sexually related material, but have to practically seclude ourselves to get it.

I don't think I want to see full blown intercourse on prime time sitcoms, but some of the restrictions are rediculous. They can show every little bit of a woman's breast just as long as 1 little piece of nipple isn't showing. How dumb is that!

I work in the American TV industry and this has always been my complaint. American TV won't allow nudity and most foul language, but has no trouble showing gruesome murders and extreme violence on their drama series.
Apparently a live nude body is far more objectionable to our religious leaders than a raped, mutilated dead body.
Are we a civilized society or what!!!

Yes, I have noticed that, but it also happens on British made shows. I saw one programme where the woman was making orgasmic sounds , with the bloke banging away, next minute someone knocked on the door and she leapt out of bed, and she still had her knickers and bra on. I thought , blimey , no wonder she was groaning !

Yea, on network TV, everything is pretty much censored, nudity, language. If you have pay channels, HBO, etc, they do not censor shows and movies.

I've been to Britain and wish that America would change it's tv ways and show it like Britain and other countries do...

Because they do not want to upset the Christian Rightwingers. Quiet why nudity should offend a real christian is beyond me - its basically being offended by God's work.
