how can i check to see if my timing chain has skiped a tooth on a 1974 ford 302?

Locate #1 spark plug lead on the distributor cap.
Remove the cap. Turn the engine over by hand until pointer is at TDC on the harmonic balancer. The rotor should be pointing @ #1 spark plug lead.
