I keep seeing that 50% of people believe that Iraq had something to do with 911. From this very very small poll I have to wonder where does this number come from

No it didn`t
any thing you hear from American politics or seing them do could be translated to one single word:OIL...
To understand some thing, look to its results,so the results of 11 9 are:occupying Afghanstan and Iraq, puting Iran in the jaw, that means they pocket the oil of iraq+iran(60% of word reserve)

Absolutely not. But 911 had everything to do with Iraq. It provided the Bush Bullyboys with an excuse to go after bin Laden. They counted on American's ignorance of the Middle East and politics and switched gears to Saddam within a very short time. It was Iraq they were after all along.

Saddam was planning to switch to the Euro and they had to act fast. That is as far as the Iraq connection to 911 went!

No Iraq or Saddam had nothing to with 9/11 attacks on WTC in New York. and if you had watched the UN meeting and presentation by Colonel Powell after the failure to comply with 114th warning of dire consequences UN also failed to act on it.

While US has been again and again paying for the Do nothing UN's 75% budget and forgiving UN diplomat's parking tickets, we had to do something about it.

UN Failed on its own demands of cooperation from Iraqi Government.

Even after the Operation Dessert Fox (Ordered by Bill Clinton) Iraqi Migs and Machine Guns never stopped firing on our Jets patrolling the No-Fly Zones in Northern and Southern Iraq.

The report and misleading information provided by CIA and Trusting too much of an ex-pat Iraqi (I forgot his name) the Majority US congress approved the War (More than 90% including Democrats and Republicans). There were no decenting votes.

Now when we got there we found out that our reports were not exactly accurate, what is the option now, leave Iraq in a state which it is now..

That is impossible.

Twit.

Saddam gave logisitical planning aid to al Queda at an airfield called Salman Pak preceding the 9/11 attacks. The terrorists learned how to storm plane cabins from old Boeing aircraft positioned there.

In addition, agents of the Iraqi government met with Mohammed Atta back in 2002.

So, what does this say? It says that Iraq DID have connections to 9/11, albeit indirectly. Saddam did not plan it, but he aided it.

nope, I believe the reason we're here is to have a base of operations out here. Our political leaders wanted american presence in the middle east. Why Iraq? Cause Iraq is convenient. All the other middle eastern nations hated Iraq, sooo Saudi, Kuwait, Egypt, and even Iran would give us the support of not attacking us (after all we help saddam defeat Iran in a war about 16 years ago, they probably wanted some payback)AND we could have a military presence in the middle east! though I don't think the military really anticipated all the crazy bastards that would fly from all over the globe to come to Iraq and blow themselves up. So now that the military is here we can "help" dictate political agenda in the middle east, and we all know our politicians love dic........tating political agenda for other nations.

Cheney and several administration officials tried to link Iraq to 9-11. And Iraq is still used as an example of the "War on Terror" which began with the 9-11 attacks. The media NEVER linked the two before Cheney et al. did it while lying to the American public.

Only for the fact that 9/11 woke America up to the fact they they were at war with certain Muslim factions and that something needed to be done to prevent these factions from attacking again. Iraq and Afganistan were good choices for America to spread democracy and freedom, and to do something, anything to stem further attacks.
Perhaps the biggest connection is that after 9/11, is that it made America mad. It's easy to forget our anger now, years later.

Iraq wasn't directly involved in 9/11, but it was involved in other terrorist attacks (like suicide bombings in Israel). A lot of people don't seem to distinguish between 9/11 and other terrorist attacks. It seems like they think 9/11 was the only terrorist attack that has ever happened, or ever will happen.

Anyway, they are slightly related. Iraq's terrorist attacks in Israel have caused problems between Israel and the Palestinians. And Al Qaeda has said that the problems between Israel and the Palestinians is one of the reasons it does its terrorist attacks.

Also, Iraq threatened Saudi Arabia, and in response the US put its troops into Saudi Arabia to defend them. And Al Qaeda has said the fact that our troops were in Saudi Arabia is another one of the reasons it does its terrorist attacks. Saudi Arabia is holy ground for them, and they don't want us infidels there. Even though we're only there to protect it.

Iraq is about Iraq, not 9/11. It never has been. Remember the first gulf war? Kuwait? Then the 17 violations of UN sanctions and refusing to comply with the terms of their surrender. And the expelling of weapons inspectors and firing on opur planes in the no fly zone. Then the several warnings from the US to comply or else? Remember?

No, but 9/11 has been used as an excuse to attack Iraq for it's oil and resource's, and to further expand America's influence in the Middle East and world.
